Brooklyn born drill phenomenon, OT9 Beno is the newest breakout star off Fivio Foreign’s 800 Foreignside 8FS camp and seems poised to show the world why. A proud product of his environment yet always inspired to be better, Beno comes from the stomping grounds of prominent GS9 rappers Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel, hailing from 90s East Flatbush. Originally and aspiring Basketball player, Beno fell in love with music at the age of 12 years old after being inspired by his good friend and rising rapper Kamikaze Kai to try his hand at rapping. After a few sessions Beno was hooked and decided he would hone his craft and start doing shows alongside Kamikaze and other emerging talent. Influenced by the Woo /Drill scene, Beno explains his upbringing as rough but feels he was molded by the streets. Growing up in a neighborhood where the wrong move can leave you dead or in jail taught him survival by any means, how to move around vultures and how to effectively network while helping him understand who not to trust. He was forced to learn how to adapt and find a way out of no way.
Beno’s top single include “Hunnit crips, Hunnit Bloods hitting 60k views on YouTube and garnering him respect from the industry heavy hitters. Some of his influences are Jay z, Notorious BIG, Tupac, TLC, Onix, Wu Tang and directly inspired by FIVIO FOREIGN, Pop Smoke, Meek, NBA young boy, Dababy and 42dugg. He says that some of his biggest influences from old-school rap came from listening to his parents play these artists in his home while he cleaned. When you hear Beno’s music, listeners instantly wanna turn up making his sound and energy the life of the party. His performances are high tempo experiences for fans that are looking to enjoy themselves and is well known for pulling fans out of the crowd to join his onstage party. He explains “yall coming here to scream for me, come next to me to scream with me”. He describes his sound as authentic, witty but dead ass serious as he doesn’t hold back to captivate an audience. Although rooted in the Hip Hop scene, Beno is extremely versatile with his voice and has experimented with Rock n Roll, Pop, EDM, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. He explains “No matter the sound an artist can be dope. I can create anything I put my mind to.That is what separates me from the rest “.
His goals are to become a multi-Grammy winning artist that has infectious versatility as he also models for brands. Also looks to use his influence to change and develop the community and be impactful by inspiring people to shoot for the stars. He plans to be one of the most sought out artists of this generation. He describes himself as fun, relentless and also dead ass serious. OT9 Beno is undoubtedly making a statement in today’s saturated NY drill scene and shows why he can contend with the heavy hitters for years to come.
